The project Glocal Youth has been realised by an international team, formed by European organisations and associations, in order to share different competences and experiences in the field of media education and interculture.
COOPERATIVA LAI-MOMO (PROJECT LEADER)
ITALY
Since 1995, Lai-momo has been carrying out activities in the field of interculture and cultural cooperation. A special attention is devoted to African comics, due to its high artistic value and its efficiency as a medium to promote the knowledge of immigrants' countries of origin. Lai-momo also realises several activities linked to intercultural knowledge through art and it publishes the scientific review Africa e Mediterraneo, quarterly about African culture and society, with some issues specifically dedicated to African media, African comics and the digital-divide problem.
CENTRE AUDIOVISUEL DE LA VILLE DE LIÈGE (CAVL)
BELGIUM
The Centre, created in 1975, offers a large amount of services, including a media library for reference and lending, a centre for documentation on media, a lending service of technical material and a production unit. All services aim to train teachers, students, cultural operators and members of the educational community. The main purpose of the centre is to improve the knowledge about media and to promote their integration in the educational practices. The centre realizes workshops and training courses, and it produces teaching aids and publications about media education.
Grupo Comunicar is based at the University of Huelva and it aims to promote media education among all social categories, especially among new generations and education professionals. The association organises training courses for teachers and journalists, workshop and lectures. Among its publications, the main is Comunicar, a six-monthly about research on education and communication in Spain and South America. Grupo Comunicar has published more than 50 books in the series "Aula de Comunicacion", "Prensa y Educacion" and "Murales Prensa-Escuela".
CENTRO DE CIÊNCIAS DO MAR DO ALGARVE (CCMAR)
PORTUGAL
CCMAR is a research unit of Algarve University concerned with environmental communication and education, especially in the field of media education and intercultural communication applied to environmental issues. The centre currently counts on a team of about 150 researchers and on a network of national and international collaborations, in particular with China, East Timor and India. The centre has realized several publications about media education and media pedagogy.
